Making Nut Butters

The whole reason I bought Hazelnut trees was so I could have my own Hazelnut butter. You can make butters or spreads with various seeds and nuts.

This is a general nut butter recipe. Feel free to play around with it and see what you create!


Or you Can do it with a butter machine


  • Nuts of your choosing

  • salt - or additives you would like in the butter


  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees

  2. place nuts on a baking sheet

  3. Roast for 8-12 minutes or until fragrant and golden

  4. If roasting hazelnuts, remove the skins

  5. Add to food processor or blender (this will take 10-12 minutes or more - be patient) *It should go from whole nuts, to meal, to clumps, to creamy butter

  6. add in salt, chocolate or other add-ins of your choosing according to taste

  7. Transfer to a clean jar


Store for 3 weeks in refrigerator.
